Shakespeare 100 organiser Rob was at the Warwick Cycle Races where he met Hugh Porter, MBE, one of Britain's greatest professional cyclists who won four world titles and a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the 1960s
Hugh was keen to support the event but unfortunately will be commentating on the Tour of Britain on 12 September - nevertheless he wished the event every success (and gave us loads of plugs over the PA system at Warwick!)
Pictured are Rob with Hugh and his wife, Anita Lonsbrough MBE a former swimmer and Olympic gold medallist..

There have been a number of complaints and threats of legal action regarding the spraying of roads for a cycle event in the north Cotswold area.
The offending event was The Great Shakespeare Ride organised by Shakespeare Hospice (a small charity in Stratford-upon-Avon) and held on 22 August2010.
To clarify our position : Shakespeare 100 (12 September) signage will all be bright orange boards attached to road signs etc and will be removed by our team on the evening of the event and during the following day. We have notified the Clerks to Parish Councils in most of the areas that the rides pass through
As cyclists we enjoy the countryside - defacing it, especially in well-kept villages, is simply unacceptable.

The Shakespeare 100 event jerseys have sold out in record time - we ordered more than last time, they sold in less time than last time!
Hundreds of riders are now cycling in the distinctive jerseys sporting the logos of our generous sponsors who fund them - meaning that every penny from the sale of jerseys has gone to Macmillan Cancer Support.
A BIG THANK YOU!
.... we're already working on raising sponsorship for the next jersey order, hopefully to be in stock very early in 2011 ... if you or your employer want to be part of the jersey e-mail
