Welcome to the 2010 Shakespeare 100

After the first Shakespeare 100 Sportive in 2009 we're pleased to present what we think will be an even better event, entries are coming in from all over the country and (as at mid-July) are well up on last year*

From the “will it work?” in 2009 we’ve come a long way - with some modifications to the routes, especially the run home to the finish and through the generous support from a Stratford-upon-Avon estate agent we have superb bright orange route signage arrows (visible from 150 metres!) which will be at every junction on the course.

I must thank Warwickshire County Council and Johnsons Coaches for providing the start venue - there aren't many cycling events that have tarmac parking for 800+ cars, as well as excellent toilets.

As always thanks must also go to the team of volunteers that handle the rider check-in, as well as supporters and suppliers of printing, medals, pins, bananas, water etc. - and special mention of Avonvale Honda for the loan of the sign-written Honda CRV course cars.

This year we again have two excellent feed stations, at Great Alne and Barton-on-the-Heath - both venues were very popular last year with home-made cakes etc.

Shakespeare 100 raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support - ALL of the surplus goes to the charity.  As well as riding the event you can also support us by purchasing an event jersey - they're real cycling jerseys (not T-shirts), cost just £25 and EVERY PENNY goes to Macmillan as a result of the generous funding from the logo sponsors.  Order online.

And finally, of course, a big Thank You to all the riders.

I hope you enjoy the great Shakespeare ride through our glorious countryside.

Rob,
Ride Organiser

* We expect to close both distances before the day and not accept on-the-line entries - make your entry now with our secure online payment system
