The Shakespeare 100 CycloSportives
SPRING & AUTUMN
Dates :
SPRING : Sunday 7 April 2013 (100km only)
AUTUMN : Sunday 8 September 2013 (100 miles & 100km)
Location : Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, UK
Start/finish location : Park & Ride - signposted on the junction of A3400/A46, to the north of Stratford-upon-Avon CLICK HERE FOR A MAP (pdf, opens in a new window) There are toilets etc. There will be several parking sites in use, all within a very short distance of the ride start. Gates open for check-in at 07:10
Start time : 08:00 - a "flow start" with the first quarter of a mile neutralised, before the start proper (after the narrow canal bridge).
Signing on : Open from 07:10* - Online pre-registered entrants just need to present themselves with their name to be issued with a rider card and number.
Entrants on the day will need to complete a form and pay (processing priority will be given to online pre-registered riders)
* Riders will also be able to sign-on (at the start venue) the previous evening from 1700 - 1900
Number of riders : We have a limit on rider numbers, when that level is reached we will close entries (and make an announcement on the website) - early pre-registration is recommended for what promises to be a popular event.
Distances : April : 100km only, September 100 miles or 100Km
Distance options : Riders may enter their preferred distance, however 100 mile may change their option to 100km during the ride (but NOT 100km to 100 mile)
The course : Primarily on quiet lanes and secondary roads (no off-road).
Map/.gpx : There will be a route sheet, indicative map and .gpx files will be available to download. There will be large fluorescent arrow signage - but follow the route sheet!
Controls/refreshments : Two locations (one only in April) with refreshments - both Village Halls will have food and drink for sale at modest cost (cake, rolls, tea etc) - please support them, they put in a lot of work to support the event and the proceeds go to village funds. . Subject to sponsors we expect to have energy bars, bananas, water etc available at the start & finish
Support : There will be no official on-course support but marshals will be stationed at key points and can co-ordinate assistance. We will, of course, help riders wherever possible . . and expect riders to assist each other. A van will be leaving the start 1 hour after the mass start to pick up signs and support any riders with major mechanical issues.
Timing : Riders will be issued with a rider card which will be recorded with the time at the finish. There will be "standard times" set for age groups categorised as Gold, Silver & Bronze. The timekeeper's information shall be final.
Strava : There will be Strava segments for the routes
Results : All riders and their times will be listed on the website no later than 4 days after the event
Medal : All riders that finish will receive a medal and time standard.
Entry cost : £26.00 per rider on a solo bike, £52.00 per tandem (enter as 2 named riders) for pre-entries (before the published cut-off dates)
On the day entries, if we can take them, will be £32.00 per rider.
Charity : Shakespeare 100 is organised by a team of volunteers for Macmillan Cancer Support - we keep our costs to an absolute minimum and all proceeds will go to Macmillan.
